New Slang Coffee Brewers sits on Hunter Street in the heart of Newcastle, offering a relaxed spot where coffee lovers and casual diners cross paths. This café’s draw is its focus on quality coffee—from batch brewed to African filter blends—served alongside a concise menu of comforting toasties and sweet treats, which makes it a handy stop for a quick breakfast or a laid-back lunch.

The space feels approachable without fuss, with both indoor and outdoor seating options that encourage lingering on mild mornings or sunny afternoons. It’s clearly a spot frequented by locals wanting a dependable caffeine fix paired with something simple yet satisfying, like the chicken toastie or avocado and feta sourdough. The quality of the bread here stands out, offering a better crunch that holds up well under fillings, which many visitors appreciate over typical café fare.

Service tends to be warm and accommodating, even if you’re someone who changes their order last minute, adding to the easy-going vibe. Practical touches like clean restroom facilities ensure it fits well into everyday routines, whether you’re dropping in for a morning brew or grabbing a takeaway on the go.

New Slang isn’t about a large menu or fancy presentation but focuses on the essentials done well—strong coffee, freshly baked banana bread that feeds more than one, and toasties substantial enough for a proper meal without pushing past casual café pricing. It works best as a catch-up spot or a reliable afternoon pause for people who value genuine coffee craftsmanship and straightforward, tasty eats in a modest but friendly setting.

Fantastic coffee Stopped in for coffee and found my new favourite place in Newy for a brew. They stock an array of treats to dine in or takeaway. Brunch menu looks yummy. Clean toilet facilities available for both dine in and takeaway customers. Super friendly staff.

The chicken toastie is delicious! It’s a nice place to grab something to eat that’s less than $20. Service was lovely and attentive. There’s indoor and outdoor seating. It’s a small menu but great for a coffee shop. There are a few hot lunch options as well as sweet treats in the cabinet.

Quite a lovely atmosphere with terrific customer service! Even when I was one of those annoying customers who changes their minds at the last minute, the staff accommodated me and were so friendly! The food here is actually really nice, bread used for the toasties is much better quality and around the same price as the bread you'd find elsewhere, better crunch and not soggy. I also recommend the brownie 100% Coffee was sub par to be perfectly honest, but not terrible and would love to try again! Tldr, good food, decent coffee, lovely staff, great pricing!

Banana bread too feed a family of 4. Was so impressed by the portion size of Banana bread + super super strong coffee for only $12. I felt walking out door was going to charge for shop lifting. Post photo really tasty.

Cool looking newish cafe with a definite potential to grow in popularity. My friends short black was lacking intensity she said. But I was treated to a yummy batch brew which was great for someone who value e s an easy start to the day without the powerful intensity if a short black. The menu includes some interesting new terms so I'll be back to try those. I guess that's the point behind "new slang"
